Two boxes in one month (you cannot underestimate my excitement)! Like my OwlCrate box I’ve decided that enough time has passed that I can post my unboxing and hopefully not spoil anyone. The theme for this month’s Fairyloot box was “Tricksters” and I think this is the first or second Fairyloot box I have bought this year (I bought the one year anniversary box so this is the second… I think). So without further ado, let’s see what I got!
The first item is OFFICIAL HOGWARTS PLAYING CARDS!!!!!! asdfghjkl;’jhgfcvnjhgfdxcvb!!!! (Please excuse me while I have a mental flail and fangirl about how awesome these are).
I love loVE LOVE getting mugs in subscription boxes! This Sherlock inspired enamel tin mug by Fictiontea Designs is actually the only tin mug I have ever received so this box already gets points for being unique.
How gorgeous is that Harley Quinn art print by Miss Phi?!?! It sucks that I don’t have any where to put any of the art prints I get from these boxes.
I’ve heard a lot of people get quite salty when they get this sort of stuff in their boxes and complain that they don’t like it or that they won’t use it but I AM NOT ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE! I am cooking and baking constantly so this Fairyloot exclusive fortune telling kitchen glove is just the bee’s knees if you ask me.
Dear Sensitive Skin, If you could please not have a meltdown when I use the Loki body lotion by Geeky Clean that I got in this box that would be absolutely groovy. Thanks.
I have never received or bought a Lexy Olivia bookmark but I have wanted one for AGES! This bookmark is Six of Crows inspired (which I haven’t read but have heard is amazing) and I will hopefully remember to use this when I finally do get around to reading the Duology.
The book this month is Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody which is her debut novel and, from what I’ve heard, is awesome! Apparently it’s not too much like Caraval by Stephanie Garber so if you didn’t like that you should still like this (I haven’t read either so I can’t really give my opinion).
A darkly irresistible new fantasy set in the infamous Gomorrah Festival, a traveling carnival of debauchery that caters to the strangest of dreams and desires.
Sixteen-year-old Sorina has spent most of her life within the smoldering borders of the Gomorrah Festival. Yet even among the many unusual members of the traveling circus-city, Sorina stands apart as the only illusion-worker born in hundreds of years. This rare talent allows her to create illusions that others can see, feel and touch, with personalities all their own. Her creations are her family, and together they make up the cast of the Festival’s Freak Show.
But no matter how lifelike they may seem, her illusions are still just that—illusions, and not truly real. Or so she always believed…until one of them is murdered.
Desperate to protect her family, Sorina must track down the culprit and determine how they killed a person who doesn’t actually exist. Her search for answers leads her to the self-proclaimed gossip-worker Luca, and their investigation sends them through a haze of political turmoil and forbidden romance, and into the most sinister corners of the Festival. But as the killer continues murdering Sorina’s illusions one by one, she must unravel the horrifying truth before all of her loved ones disappear.
Like every Fairyloot box this one contained a letter from the author and a signed bookplate as well.
The August theme is “Otherworlds” but is not on sale anymore unfortunately. The September theme however is on sale currently and the theme for that us “All That Sass” and will include a special Fairyloot edition of the book as well as items inspired by The Infernal Devices, The Mortal Instruments, Throne of Glass, and Percy Jackson. As I try to do each month I am guessing (or trying to guess) the book for the next months box but unfortunately there are so many amazing books coming out in September I just can’t decide.
