I don’t often buy YA Chronicles boxes but I feel like I really should, mainly because they are an Australian business and I am also in Australia but also because they tend to be fairly awesome! Novembers theme was “Make it Gay” to combat some of the bullshit that was going on with the “same-sex marriage postal survey” and to celebrate when we got a majority YES vote!
This months box contained:
- Art prints of Wylan and Jesper, Magnus Bane, and Avatar Kora by Taratjah
- A “Yes” temporary tattoo
- A rainbow “Love is Love” bookmark from Read and Wonder
- A free ebook version of Keepers by Sacha De Black
- A Sweet Cherry Soda ‘Sorting Rainbow’ bath bomb
- An awesome rainbow ribbon
A first edition copy of Fence by C.S. Pacat was also included in this box AND since I ordered this box after November 30, my copy was signed by the lovely author.
Sixteen-year-old Nicholas Cox is an outsider to the competitive fencing world. Filled with raw talent but lacking proper training, he signs up for a competition that puts him head-to-head with fencing prodigy Seiji Katayama…and on the road to the elite all-boys school Kings Row. A chance at a real team and a place to belong awaits him—if he can make the cut!
The book for this month is Renegades by Marissa Meyer and while the main ship isn’t gay, I hear that one of the other ships is and that they are SUPER AMAZING TOGETHER!
Secret Identities. Extraordinary Powers. She wants vengeance. He wants justice.
The Renegades are a syndicate of prodigies—humans with extraordinary abilities—who emerged from the ruins of a crumbled society and established peace and order where chaos reigned. As champions of justice, they remain a symbol of hope and courage to everyone…except the villains they once overthrew.
Nova has a reason to hate the Renegades, and she is on a mission for vengeance. As she gets closer to her target, she meets Adrian, a Renegade boy who believes in justice—and in Nova. But Nova’s allegiance is to a villain who has the power to end them both.
