Once again I have been absolutely blown away by the awesomeness that is OwlCrate! The OwlCrate January box theme was “Fearsome Fairy Tales” and completely blew me away! Owlcrate is continually creating better and better boxes as the months pass by. This box was perfect for people who fantasy books, and had items inspired by classic fairy tales like Sleeping Beauty, Hansel & Gretel, Rapunzel, Red Riding Hood and more! As usual the box also included a OwlCrate pin that matched the beautiful art card.
The January box contained:
- Hansel and Gretel wax melts from Spireside
- A ceramic burner designed by Team Owlcrate
- An awesome Rapunzel bracelet by Authored Adornments
- A super cool Red Riding Hood art print by Anne Lambelet
- A beautiful pillowcase by Stella’s Bookish Art inspired by Sleeping Beauty
The book for this month was The Cruel Prince by Holly Black, which is an awesome sounding fantasy book that “takes place in the brutal world of faeries! It’s filled with secrets, politics, betrayal and romance.” This book sounds crazy good, and boy am I excited about the Owlcrate exclusive cover because it is SOOOOO different from the original and, in my opinion, way prettier (The original is white with gold branches, a crown, and a small green beetle on it which, as you can see is very different from this exclusive cover).
Of course I want to be like them. They’re beautiful as blades forged in some divine fire. They will live forever.
And Cardan is even more beautiful than the rest. I hate him more than all the others. I hate him so much that sometimes when I look at him, I can hardly breathe.
Jude was seven years old when her parents were murdered and she and her two sisters were stolen away to live in the treacherous High Court of Faerie. Ten years later, Jude wants nothing more than to belong there, despite her mortality. But many of the fey despise humans. Especially Prince Cardan, the youngest and wickedest son of the High King.
To win a place at the Court, she must defy him–and face the consequences.
In doing so, she becomes embroiled in palace intrigues and deceptions, discovering her own capacity for bloodshed. But as civil war threatens to drown the Courts of Faerie in violence, Jude will need to risk her life in a dangerous alliance to save her sisters, and Faerie itself.
All in all this was a pretty awesome box, which I definitely expect from OwlCrate. Next month, February’s theme is “Hidden Worlds” and has items inspired by The Chronicles of Narnia, Coraline, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, Alice in Wonderland and others (One of the items is a large exclusive item designed by Evie Bookish). Seeing as the book in February’s box is described as “a very highly anticipated story about a girl who has to venture deep into a sinister land of fairy tales in an effort to rescue her mother,” I am almost 99% sure that the book is The Hazel Woodby Melissa Albert.
