Once again I have been absolutely blown away by the awesomeness that is OwlCrate! The OwlCrate April box theme was “Shadows and Secrets” and completely blew me away! Owlcrate is continually creating better and better boxes as the months pass by. This box was perfect for people who fantasy books, and had items inspired by Six of Crows, The Mortal Instruments, Harry Potter, The Young Elites and more! As usual the box also included a OwlCrate pin that matched the beautiful art card.
The April box contained:
- Harry Potter inspired pencil set by Jubilee Designs
- Shadowhunter soap from Three Sisters Apothecary by Soap Cauldron
- Dark chocolate and sea salt coffee from Bones Coffee Company
- Crooked Kingdom pillow case designed by Stella Bookish Art
- A Young Elites inspired vinyl sticker designed by Jamila Mehio
- A sample of Legendary by Stephanie Garber
- Ace of Shades postcard set
The book for this month was Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody, which is an awesome sounding fantasy book that “will take you on a journey through a sinful city full of characters with loose morals, secret identities and sly tricks.” This book sounds crazy good, but I must say that I am a little bit disappointed with the exclusive cover that it came with (The exclusive cover is brown when the original is red and I’m just not a fan). However, it is signed by the author which is super AMAZING!!
Welcome to the City of Sin, where casino families reign, gangs infest the streets…
and secrets hide in every shadow.
Enne Salta was raised as a proper young lady, and no lady would willingly visit New Reynes, the so-called City of Sin. But when her mother goes missing, Enne must leave her finishing school—and her reputation—behind to follow her mother’s trail to the city where no one survives uncorrupted.
Frightened and alone, her only lead is a name: Levi Glaisyer. Unfortunately, Levi is not the gentleman she expected—he’s a street lord and a con man. Levi is also only one payment away from cleaning up a rapidly unraveling investment scam, so he doesn’t have time to investigate a woman leading a dangerous double life. Enne’s offer of compensation, however, could be the solution to all his problems.
Their search for clues leads them through glamorous casinos, illicit cabarets and into the clutches of a ruthless mafia donna. As Enne unearths an impossible secret about her past, Levi’s enemies catch up to them, ensnaring him in a vicious execution game where the players always lose. To save him, Enne will need to surrender herself to the city…
And she’ll need to play.
All in all this was a pretty awesome box, which I definitely expect from OwlCrate. Next month, May’s theme is “Fight Like a Girl” and has items inspired by Children of Blood and Bone, A Court of Wings and Ruin, Harry Potter, Six of Crows and others. The book in May’s box is described as “a brutal Viking-inspired tale featuring a main character who is a warrior in every sense of the word. It’s a story about fighting for what you believe in, the bonds between family, and what loyalty truly means.” While this book was published in April, I think that they May book might be Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young. If you have decided that you super like what is in an OwlCrate box here is the link so that you can order one of your own!
